Cagayan University

The state-controlled Cagayan State University (CSU) is a comprehensive institution of higher learning in Cagayan. CSU also leads in the number of student enrolment as well as curricular program offerings. Among the Indian students, CUS is quite popular due to its low tuition fee.  Though CSU was established in the year 1436, its College of Medicine established only in the year 1993. Being the only state controlled University in Cagayan, CSU offers a minimum to minimum tuition fee and a very affordable accommodation fee. CSU’s MBBS program is well recognized by WHO and the Medical Council of India.

The International Medical Education Directory (IMED), the US Education Department and  the General Council Of Medicine of Great Britain also recognized CUS’s MMBS degree.

History

The university was formed after merging two state-controlled colleges- the Cagayan Valley College of Arts & Trade at Tuguegarao and the Northern Luzon State College of Agriculture at Piat district. Besides, college courses of other smaller institutions that were under the supervision and control of the ministry of Education, Culture and Sports(during that period) also merged with the CSU system.

Under the scheme, the Aparri Institute of Technology, Bukig National Agricultural and Technical School, Aparri School of Arts and Trades, Cagayan Valley Agricultural College, Sanchez Mira Rural Vocational School, Western Cagayan School of Arts and Trades  and Gonzaga National Agricultural and Technical School integrated with CSU. To upgrade the educational qualifications of the faculty, the Faculty and Staff Development Program was introduced in the form of graduate programs in 1979.
